Liu Peng Shuai, 22, of China was one of the winners at “ONE: Clash of Legends” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on February 16, 2019. It was his third win in ONE Championship.
“ONE: Clash of Legends” is the first ONE Championship event in Thailand in 2019 and it featured five Muay Thai contests and seven mixed martial arts bouts. In the first bout of the evening, Liu faced Elipitua Siregar, 22, of Indonesia in an MMA bout in the strawweight division.
Olivier Coste served as the referee. Liu showcased true grit and determination in defeating Siregar, overcoming his Indonesian opponent’s devastating offense.
Coste put a stop to the strawweight contest between Siregar and Liu after 4 minutes and 15 seconds in the third round. The Chinese contender submitted his Indonesian opponent via kimura.
This made Liu the first fighter to defeat Siregar. It improved the Chinese fighter’s professional record to 5 wins and 5 losses while the Indonesian fighter now has 3 wins and 1 loss.
Including Indonesia and China, 14 countries were represented at “ONE: Clash of Legends.” The other countries were Cambodia, France, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Training out of Tigershark Fighting Club in Jakarta, Siregar was the only athlete representing Indonesia. Training out of Fighting Bros Club in Beijing, China, Liu was one of the two fighters from China.
Both Siregar and Liu had three ONE Championship bouts prior to “ONE: Clash of Legends.”
