Team Lakay brothers: How Honorio Banario boosts Harold Banario’s confidence

Hailing from Mankayan, Benguet, Philippines, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 29, and Harold “The Artist” Banario, 24, are two of the mixed martial artists training out of Team Lakay. The brothers are currently signed with different MMA promotions.

Signed with ONE Championship, Honorio is a former ONE Featherweight World Champion. On the other hand, Harold is about to make his debut in Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation.

Brave CF’s 22nd event titled “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila on March 15, 2019. It will be the promotion’s first event event to take place in the country.

On February 18, 2018, Brave CF signed its partnership with Philippine television network TV5 during a press conference at the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila. The event was attended by eight Filipino MMA fighters including Harold, who will make his Brave CF debut at “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors.”

During the press conference, Harold said Honorio boosts his confidence not verbally but by the way his big brother fights. According to Harold, it was Honorio who brought him to the sport of MMA.

At “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors,” Harold will face Ariel “The Lady Boxer” Oliveros, 24, of Ormoc, Leyte, Philippines in the bantamweight division. The latter replaced Gamzat Magomedov, 23, of St. Petersburg, Russia who has been forced to pull out due to undisclosed reasons.

Honorio is expected to be in Harold’s corner at “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors.” It will not be Honorio’s first time to be in a Brave CF event.

On June 9, 2018, Honorio was in the corner of his fellow Team Lakay fighter Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, at “Brave 13: Europe Evolution” at the SSE arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The latter successfully defended his Brave CF Bantamweight Championship against Frans “The Black Mamba” Mlambo, 27.

Loman will defend his belt again in the main event of “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors.” His challenger is former Brave CF Featherweight Champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 25, of France.

Meanwhile, here is Harold talking about Honorio:
