Nathaniel “The Prospect” Wood, 25, England of Morden, Greater London, England was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 147.” It was his third victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 12 mixed martial arts bouts, “UFC Fight Night 147” took place at The 02 Arena in London, England on March 16, 2019. In the ninth bout of the evening, Wood faced José Alberto “El Teco” Quiñónez, 28, of Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Mexico in the bantamweight division.
Rich Mitchell served as the referee of the bantamweight bout between Wood and Quiñónez. The referee put a stop to the contest after 2 minutes and 46 seconds in the second round when the English contender submitted his Mexican opponent via rear-naked choke.
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 147” improved Wood’s professional MMA record to 16 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Quiñónez now has 7 wins and 3 losses.
Competing professionally since 2012, Wood made his debut in the UFC in 2018. The first two opponents he defeated in the American MMA promotion were Johnny “Pretinho” Eduardo, 38, of Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Andre “Mr. Highlight” Ewell, 31, of Riverside, California, United States.
The main event of “UFC Fight Night 147” was a welterweight bout between Darren “The Gorilla” Till, 26, of Liverpool, Merseyside, England and Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, 34, of Miami, Florida, USA. The American fighter, who is of Cuban and Peruvian descent, knocked out his English opponent in the second round.
In the co-main event Leon “Rocky” Edwards, 27, of Erdington, Birmingham, England faced Gunnar “Gunni” Nelson, 30, of Reykjavik, Iceland in the welterweight division. The English contender won via split decision.
Including England, the U.S., Iceland and Mexico, a total of 11 countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 147.” Wood was one of the 11 fighters who represented England while Quiñónez was the sole representative of Mexico.
