Former URCC Global Women’s Flyweight World Champion Geli Bulaong of the Philippines was one of the winners at “URCC Global: Raw Fury,” the first event of URCC Global in 2019. It was her third victory in the Philippines-based mixed martial arts promotion.
Featuring 10 MMA matches, which included four title bouts, “URCC Global: Raw Fury” took place at The Cove at Okada Manila in Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 27, 2019. The fifth bout of the evening was between Bulaong and “Samoan Korean” Jang Hyun Ji of South Korea in the women’s flyweight division.
It was the only bout between female fighters on the card. Florence Eusebio served as the referee.
After three five-minute rounds, the contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Eusebio raised the hand of Bulaong, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
In the post-fight interview inside the cage with URCC Global matchmaker Ron Catunao, Bulaong expressed her interest in reclaiming the now vacant URCC Global Women’s Flyweight World Championship title. She said she wanted to have a rematch with “Magikarp” Ji Yeon Seo of South Korea, also a former URCC Global Women’s Flyweight World Champion who recently vacated the title.
While Bulaong was among the 17 hometown heroes who competed at “URCC Global: Raw Fury,” Jang was one of the two fighters who represented South Korea. China, Japan, Switzerland and the United States were also represented.
Jang made her professional MMA debut in 2018. She made her URCC Global debut at “URCC Global: Raw Fury.”
Bulaong has been competing professionally since 2016. “URCC Global: Raw Fury” marked her fourth URCC Global bout.
