Training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore, Aleksi “The Giant” Toivonen, 27, of Finland was one of the winners at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 12, 2019. The Finnish mixed martial artist defeated Akihiro “Superjap” Fujisawa, 39, of Japan.
“ONE: Masters of Destiny” marked the fourth ONE Championship outing of Fujisawa not including his ONE Warrior Series bout. For Toivonen, it was his promotional debut.
ONE Championship included four kickboxing contests, two Muay Thai matches and 10 mixed martial arts bouts on the “ONE: Masters of Destiny” card. In the sixth bout of the evening, Toivonen and Fujisawa competed in an MMA match in the flyweight division with Yoshiniro Umeki as the referee.
Toivonen made his ONE Championship debut a triumphant one. Fujisawa tried to stay on the outside to counter.

Umeki put a stop to the flyweight contest after 3 minutes and 27 seconds in the first round. Toivonen submitted Fujisawa via rear-naked choke.
