Reece “Lightning” McLaren, 29, of Australia will fight Aleksi “The Giant” Toivonen, 28, of Finland at “ONE: Reign of Dynasties.” They will compete in the flyweight division.
Featuring five mixed martial arts matches and one Muay Thai title bout, “ONE: Reign of Dynasties” will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on October 9, 2020. The flyweight contest between McLaren and Toivonen will be the co-main event of the evening.
Toivonen is an undefeated MMA fighter with 7 wins, 0 loss, 0 draw and 2 No Contests. He has been competing professionally since 2015.
“ONE: Reign of Dynasties” marks Toivonen’s second ONE Championship bout. In his promotional debut, he submitted Akihiro “Superjap” Fujisawa, 40, of Japan in the first round.
The undefeated Finnish MMA fighter will be McLaren’s 11th opponent in ONE Championship. The Australian MMA fighter, who is of Filipino descent, has been competing professionally since 2010 and he currently holds a professional MMA record of 13 wins and 7 losses.
McLaren made his ONE Championship debut in 2015. From 2015 to 2019, the Filipino-Australian MMA fighter defeated six opponents in the Singapore-based martial arts promotion namely Mark “Mugen” Striegl, 32, of the Philippines, Muin “Tajik” Gafurov, 24, of Tajikistan, Anatpong “Mak” Bunrad, 34, of Thailand, Gianni Subba, 27, of Malaysia, Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada, 31, of Japan and Gurdarshan “Saint Lion” Mangat, 33, of India and Canada.
Eight countries will be represented at “ONE: Reign of Dynasties” namely Australia, China, Finland, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Toivonen is the sole representative of Finland while McLaren and Josh “Timebomb” Tonna, 31, of Australia are the two representatives of Australia.
