Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, 32, of the United States is set to compete in ONE Championship for the second time. Like in his promotional debut, he will face a Japanese opponent.

When Johnson made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 2019, he faced Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu, 24, of Japan in a ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix quarter-final bout. The American mixed martial artist submitted his Japanese opponent via guillotine choke.

The two ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix semi-final bouts are included in the “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” fight card. Danny “The King” Kingad, 23, of the Philippines will fight Reece “Lightning” McLaren, 27, of Australia first before the match between Johnson and Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada, 30, of Japan.

“I’m very much looking forward to taking on Tatsumitsu Wada,”Johnson stated. “It’s the second round of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix. Being a kid, growing up watching Japanese mixed martial arts, I could never imagine myself actually competing against the best in the world and hopefully eventually win the Grand Prix.”

Johnson and Wada had their face-off during the press conference for “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” at the City of Dreams Manila in Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines on August 2, 2019. It was attended by ONE Championship president Chatri Sityodtong and ONE Championship Japan president Andy Hata.

“I’m going to battle a little adversity against Tatsumitsu Wada,” Johnson said during the press conference. “I’ve been down on the scorecards before but I keep on pushing through. I look forward to entertaining you all on Friday night.”

Featuring 12 MMA matches and two Muay Thai contests, “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” will be held on August 2, 2019 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. Here is a clip from the press conference:
