Alden Richards, 27, recently made history as the third Filipino recipient of the Asian Star Prize at the Seoul International Drama Awards. The “Hello, Love, Goodbye” star went to Seoul, South Korea to receive the award on August 28, 2019.
“It’s such an honor to receive this award,” Richards said in his acceptance speech. “As a Filipino, I am very humbled and grateful to be recognized in the international scene, along with so many amazing and talented artists here tonight. This award is extra special because it comes at a time when we are celebrating 70 years of friendship between the Philippines and South Korea.”
The first Filipino actor to ever receive the Asian Star Prize at the Seoul International Drama Awards was Dennis Trillo. He received the recognition in 2016 along with Anthony Wong, 57, of Hong Kong, Jasper Liu, 33, of Taiwan, Rebecca Lim, 32, of Singapore, Mina Fujii of Japan and Nha Phuong, 29, of Vietnam.
In 2017, Gabby Concepcion, 54, received the same award. His fellow recipients were Debbie Goh, 40, of Malaysia, Hyunri, 32, of Japan, Satyadeep Misra, 39, of India and Sukollawat Kanarot, 34, of Thailand.
The Seoul International Drama Awards 2019 ceremony was held at the Peace Hall in Kyung Hee University in Seoul. It was the 14th edition of the annual international drama festival honoring excellence in television drama productions worldwide.
Richards played the title role in the GMA Network series “Victor Magtanggol” in 2018. On the big screen, he recently starred with Kathryn Bernardo, 23, in “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”
Born on January 2, 1992 in Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines, Richards is the other half of the phenomenal duo AlDub. He and his partner Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza, 24, co-starred in the film “Imagine You and Me” in 2016.
On August 5, 2019, Richards attended the story conference of his upcoming series on GMA Network. Joining him in the still-untitled series are Elizabeth Oropesa, 65, Jean Garcia, 50, Christian Vasquez, 42, Rochelle Pangilinan, 37, Martin del Rosario, 26, Jo Berry, 25, Thia Tomalla, 24, Mikee Quintos, 21, and Ysabel Ortega, 20.
