Igorot mixed martial artist Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang, 26, successfully made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Century 世紀” in Tokyo, Japan. He is training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.
Featuring MMA, Muay Thai and kickboxing matches, “ONE: Century 世紀” had two parts with 11 bouts each both of which took place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on October 12, 2019. In the third bout of the first part, Adiwang fought Senzo Ikeda, 37, of Tokyo, Japan in an MMA bout the strawweight division with Motohiro Tsuruwa as the referee.
Known as a powerful striker, Adiwang showed off a different facet of his game as he scored an early takedown and immediately executed a scarf-hold armlock. Tsuruwa put a stop to the strawweight contest after 1 minute and 57 seconds in the first round and awarded the victory to the Filipino fighter, who via via technical knockout due to injury.
Winning at “ONE: Century 世紀” improved the professional MMA record of Adiwang to 10 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Ikeda now has 12 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw.
Ikeda is training out of The Paraestra Matsudo in Chiba, Japan. In his most recent bout, he lost to Adiwang’s Team Lakay teammate Danny “The King” Kingad, 23, of the Philippines, which downgraded the professional MMA record of the Japanese fighter to 12 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw.
Adiwang’s most recent bout was at “ONE Warrior Series 7” in Singapore on August 6, 2019. He defeated Anthony “The Antidote” Do, 26, of Vietnam.
Born on March 23, 1993, Adiwang has been competing professionally since 2012. He is now riding a six-bout winning streak.
“ONE: Century 世紀” was the second ONE Championship event held in Japan. It marked the martial arts organization’s 100th live event.
Including Japan and the Philippines, a total of 18 countries were represented in the two parts of “ONE: Century 世紀.” The others were Algeria, Belarus, Brazil, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and the United States.
