Kim Jae Woong (김재웅), 26, of South Korea has earned his first ONE Championship win. The Korean mixed martial artist was one of the winners at “ONE: Masters of Fate.”
Featuring 10 MMA matches and three Muay Thai contests, ONE Championship held “ONE: Masters of Fate” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on November 8, 2019. In the third bout of the evening, Kim fought Rafael “Indio” Nunes, 31, of Brazil in an MMA match in the featherweight division.
Motohiro Tsuruwa served as the referee of the featherweight contest. Kim picked Nunes apart in the striking department.
A Brazilian grappler, Nunes exhibited submission attempts but Kim was able to survive them. In the final round, the South Korean contender landed a punch to the body.
Tsuruwa put a stop to the featherweight contest after 38 seconds in the third round. Kim knocked out Nunes via knees.
Winning at “ONE: Masters of Fate” improved the professional MMA record of Kim to 10 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Nunes now has 11 wins and 3 losses.
Including South Korea and Brazil, 15 countries were represented at “ONE: Masters of Fate.” The others were Cambodia, China, Cuba, Finland, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, the Philippines, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.
Nunes solely represented Brazil. He is training out of AC Fight and Fitness and Nova União.
Kim was one of the two representatives of South Korea. He trains out of Extreme Combat and Top Gym BF.
It was Kim’s ONE Championship debut. It was the fourth outing of Nunes in the Singapore-based martial arts promotion.
