Supporting the World Health Organization work, a solidarity response fund has been created in response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. While Facebook, Google and other big companies have already given support, individual donors can also support the fund through COVID19 Response Fund.

“We are at a critical point in the global response to COVID-19,” WHO director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated. “We need everyone to get involved in this massive effort to keep the world safe.”

“We are immensely grateful to the UN Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation for coming forward to help us set up this fund,” Ghebreyesus continued. “A lot of people and institutions have been saying they want to contribute to the fight against the novel coronavirus. Now, they can.”

In the past few days, sports and entertainment events have been either postponed or cancelled including those of the NBA, the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, BRAVE Combat Federation, the World Kickboxing Network and the Philippines Rugby. On March 12, 2020, Tom Hanks announced that he and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for COVID-19.
