Fighting out of Kurdistan by way of Norway, Mohamad “The Kurdish Gorilla” Zarey was one of the winners at “BRAVE CF 37.” It was his first victory in the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion BRAVE Combat Federation.
In partnership with Swedish MMA promotion Bulldog Fight Night, BRAVE CF held “BRAVE CF 37” in Stockholm, Sweden on August 1, 2020 with eight professional MMA bouts. In the first bout of the evening, Zarey fought Ahouzi Kouame of France in the welterweight division.
Declan Larkin served as the referee. He put a stop to the welterweight contest in the first round when Zarey submitted Kouame via heel hook.
Both Zarey and Kouame made their professional MMA debut and BRAVE CF debut at “BRAVE CF 37.” This mean the Kurdish-Norwegian MMA fighter now holds a professional MMA record of 1 win and 0 loss while the French MMA fighter now has 0 win and 1 loss.
Fourteen countries were represented at “BRAVE CF 37” namely Afghanistan, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Northern Ireland, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Turkey. Zarey solely represented Norway while Kouame was the sole representative of France.
In the main event of the evening, Louis “Spartacus” Glismann, 29, of Copenhagen, Denmark fought Henri Lintula, 29, of Kerava, Uusimaa, Finland in the welterweight division. The Danish contender submitted his Finnish opponent via rear-naked choke.
In the co-main event, Irman “The People’s Champ” Smajić, 37, of Sweden fought Fatih Aktas, 30, of Turkey in the heavyweight division. The Swedish contender won via unanimous decision.
