Sweden’s Irman Smajić earns 1st BRAVE CF win, beats Fatih Aktas at ‘BRAVE CF 37’ in Stockholm, Sweden

Irman “The People’s Champ” Smajić, 37, of Sweden was one of the winners at “BRAVE CF 37.” It was his first victory in the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion BRAVE Combat Federation.

In partnership with Swedish MMA promotion Bulldog Fight Night, BRAVE CF held “BRAVE CF 37” in Stockholm, Sweden on August 1, 2020 with eight professional MMA bouts. In the co-main event of the evening, Smajić fought Fatih Aktas, 30, of Turkey in the heavyweight division.

Declan Larkin served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the heavyweight bout was left in the hands of the three judges.

In the end, Larkin raised the hand of Smajić. The Swedish MMA fighter was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Both Smajić and Aktas made their respective BRAVE CF debuts at “BRAVE CF 37.” The Swedish contender improved his professional MMA record of 3 wins and 0 loss while his Turkish opponent now has 5 wins and 4 losses.

As an amateur fighter, Smajić won 14 out of 17 bouts in the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation from 2015 to 2017. He made his professional MMA debut in 2018 by wining one fight in Superior Challenge then he won one fight in Excellence Fighting Championship before joining BRAVE CF.

 

Including Sweden and Turkey, 14 countries were represented at “BRAVE CF 37.” The other countries were Afghanistan, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Northern Ireland, Norway and Russia.

Aktas solely represented Turkey. Smajić was one of the six fighters who represented the home country.

In the main event of the evening, Louis “Spartacus” Glismann, 29, of Copenhagen, Denmark fought Henri Lintula, 29, of Kerava, Uusimaa, Finland in the welterweight division. The Danish contender submitted his Finnish opponent via rear-naked choke.
