Justin Bieber, 26, of Canada was one of the big winners at the American Music Awards of 2020. The 48th edition of the annual American music awards show took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, United States on November 22, 2020.
Bieber won the Favorite Male Artist award in the pop and rock category. The Canadian singer-songwriter defeated Austin Richard “Post Malone” Post, 25, and Abel “The Weeknd” Makkonen Tesfaye, 30.
The collaboration song of Bieber and country pop music duo Dan Smyers, 33, and Shay Mooney, 28, who are collectively known as Dan + Shay, titled “10,000 Hours” won Collaboration of the Year. The other nominees were “WAP” by Belcalis Marlenis “Cardi B” Almánzar, 28, and Megan Jovon Ruth “Megan Thee Stallion” Pete, 25, “Rockstar” by Jonathan Lyndale “DaBaby” Kirk, 28, by Rodrick Wayne “Roddy Ricch” Moore, Jr., 22, Rain on Me” by Stefani Joanne Angelina “Lady Gaga” Germanotta, 34, and “Savage (Remix)” by Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé Knowles, 39.
“10,000 Hours” was also the Favorite Song in the country category. The other nominees were “The Bones” by Maren Morris, 30, and “Nobody But You” by Blake Shelton, 44, and Gwen Stefani, 51.
Dan + Shay was the Favorite Duo or Group in the country category. Also nominated were Tyler Hubbard, 33, and Brian Kelley, 35, collectively known as Florida Georgia Line and the five-member band Old Dominion.
On October 26, 2020, Dua Lipa, 25, and “Good Morning America” announced the nominees of the American Music Awards of 2020. She performed “Levitating” during the awards ceremony, which was hosted by Taraji P. Henson, 50, and was aired on ABC.
Dan + Shay sang “I Should Probably Go to Bed,” which is the second single from the duo’s upcoming fourth studio album. Bieber solely sang “Holy” and performed “Lonely” with Benjamin Joseph “Benny Blanco” Levin, 32, and “Monster” with Shawn Mendes, 22.
The Weeknd, Dan + Shay and Bieber with Taylor Swift, 30, as the artists with the most awards. They each received three awards.
