Dubbed the Tsar of Beauty, Osmel Sousa, 74, will appoint Argentina’s representatives to Miss Universe 2020 and Miss International 2021. No national beauty pageant will be held due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Sousa has three choices namely Aldana Masset, 20, Alina Luz Akselrad, 22, and Julieta Garcia, 21. Two of the three Argentine beauties will be declared Miss Universe Argentina 2020 and Miss International 2021 on December 13, 2020.
Masset, Akselrad and Garcia competed in Miss Universo Argentina 2019. The reigning queen Mariana Varela did not place in Miss Universe 2019.
Garcia was Miss Universe Argentina 2019 first runner-up while Masset and Akselrad finished in the Top 7. Get to know more about them here:

Akselrad is of Moroccan descent. She was a university student studying journalism when she was crowned Miss Sudamerica in 2017.
Maria Julieta Garcia
- Hometown: Bahia Blanca, Argentina
- Height: 179 cm
Currently, Argentina has one Miss Universe crown and one Miss International crown. The country also has two Miss World crowns.
The first major beauty pageant queens from Argentina are Miss World 1960 Norma Cappagli, Miss Universe 1962 Norma Nolan and Miss International 1967. In 1978, Silvana Suarez won the second Miss World crown for the country.
Representing Argentina at Miss Universe, Adriana Gardiazabal was second runner-up in 1961 while Beatriz Gross was fourth runner-up in 1970. Since Valentina Ferrer finished in the Top 10 in 2014, the country has not placed in the beauty pageant.
Also in 2014, Argentina’s Josefina Herrero finished in the Top 10 at Miss International. The country’s Yoana Don finished in the Top 16 in 2016.
