The whereabouts of Brian Laundrie, 23, of North Port, Florida, United States are still unknown. His parents Christopher John “Chris” Laundrie, 62, and Roberta Maria Vinci Laundrie, 55, reported him missing on September 17, 2021.
Representing the Laundrie family is Steven Bertolino. The lawyer said he does not represent Brian’s sister Cassandra M. “Cassie” Laundrie, 32.
“I do not represent Cassie Laundrie,” Bertolino told Fox News on October 4, 2021. “Cassie’s comments can only be attributed to the press twisting my words and hers, which were only given to clarify prior mischaracterizations by the press, with the hopes of further sensationalizing this tragic story.”
On July 2, 2021, Brian and his then girlfriend Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito, 22, of Blue Point, New York, USA started their cross-country trip. When he returned to North Port alone on September 1, 2021, he and his parents visited Cassie, according to Cassie.
Brian, Chris and Roberta stayed in Fort De Soto Park in Pinellas County, Florida from September 1-3, 2021 and from September 6-8, 2021, according to a tip Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman received on September 27, 2021. Bertolino confirmed that Cassie also stayed at the campground for a day on September 6, 2021.
On September 11, 2021, Petito was reported missing. On September 15, 2021, Brian was named a person of interest in the investigation.
On September 17, 2021, Chris and Roberta told police that they had not seen Brian since September 14, 2021. On September 19, 2021, Petito was found dead near Grand Teton National Park in Teton County, Wyoming, USA.
It was “pretty typical” of Brian and Petito to “argue and try and take space from each other,” Cassie said in a “Good Morning America” interview that aired on October 5, 2021. However, Cassie clarified that she never witnessed any signs of domestic violence.
“I worry about him,” Cassie said of Brian. “I hope he’s okay and then I’m angry and I don’t know what to think. I hope my brother is alive because I want answers just as much as everybody else.”
Cassie said if she knew where Brian is, she would turn him in. She said, “I would tell my brother to just come forward and get us out of this horrible mess.”
