The Republic of Chad is a landlocked country in Middle Africa. The country is bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, Niger to the west, Cameroon and Nigeria to the southwest and the Central African Republic to the south.

Chad became a republic on November 28, 1958 and gained its independence from France on August 11, 1960. On September 20, 1960, Chad was admitted to the United Nations.

Mahamat Déby, 38, assumed office as the chairman of Chad’s transitional military council on April 20, 2021. The country’s incumbent prime minister Albert Pahimi Padacké, 55, assumed office on April 26, 2021.
