Riverview, Florida’s Matthew Hike molested Livingstone Academy Autism Center student, Bloomingdale High School football player?

Matthew J. Hike, 33, of Riverview, Hillsborough County, Florida, United States was a teacher at Livingstone Academy Autism Center in Valrico, Hillsborough County. At the same time, he was working at Bloomingdale High School in Valrico as a coach for the school’s football team.

Hike is accused of inappropriately touching an underage student at Livingstone Academy Autism Center and showing pornographic images to the student. The grandmother of the the student reported the alleged abuses to the school, which reached out to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 24, 2022, Hike was arrested. He was charged with three counts of selling or distributing obscene material to a minor and five counts of lewd or lascivious molestation.

Between 2017 and 2021, Hike allegedly molested a Bloomingdale High School student more than 50 times. The Riverview resident was the student’s football coach when the alleged molestations happened.

On April 6, 2022, Hike was arrested again. He was charged with one count of authority figure soliciting or engaging in lewd conduct with a student and three counts of lewd or lascivious molestation.

After being booked into a Hillsborough County jail, Hike was released on bond. Anyone who may have been his victim is asked to to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200.

Founded in 1885, Riverview is located southeast of the center of Hillsborough County. The unincorporated census-designated place is served by the Hillsborough County Public School District with 15 K-12 public schools.

Also known as Debra LaFave, Debra Jean Williams, 41, was born in Riverview. She formerly taught at Angelo L. Greco Middle School in Temple Terrace, Hillsborough County, allegedly had a sexual encounter with a student, then 14, in 2004 and pleaded guilty to lewd or lascivious battery against a teenager in 2005.
