Fashionista and socialite Abby Choi Tin-fung of Hong Kong has died. She was 28.
Choi was married to Alex Kwong, 28. He is one of the two sons of Kwong Kau, 65, and Jenny Li, 63, and the younger brother of Anthony Kwong, 31.
In 2012, Choi and Alex got married. They have two daughters who were born in 2012 and in 2015.
After divorcing Alex, Choi continued to provide for his family and Anthony worked as her chauffeur. She bought a Kadoorie Hill property in Ho Man Tin, Kowloon, Hong Kong under Kau’s name.
Kau and Li lived in the property, which has a market value of HK$45 million (US$5.73 million). In 2022, Choi expressed her intention to sell the property, which angered Kau and Li.
On December 9, 2016, Choi and Tam Chuk-Kwan held a wedding ceremony but did not register their marriage. She and Tam have two children together.
In January 2023, Choi attended the Elie Saab Spring Summer 2023 Haute Couture show in Paris, France. On February 21, 2023, she was reported missing in Hong Kong.
On February 24, 2023, police found Choi’s limbs inside a refrigerator in a unit on the ground floor of a three-story house at Lung Mei Tsuen village in Tai Po, Hong Kong. Kau rented the unfurnished house, which was equipped with an electric saw and a meat grinder.
Anthony, Kau and Li were arrested also on February 24, 2023 while Alex was arrested on February 25, 2023. A female suspect, 47, was arrested on February 26, 2023.
On February 27, 2023, Alex, Anthony, Kau and Li appeared in the magistrate’s court in Kowloon. The court adjourned the case until May 8, 2023.
Alex, Anthony and Kau were charged with Choi’s murder while Li was charged with perverting the course of justice. They were all denied bail.
