17 arrested in human trafficking operation in Lubbock, Texas

A total of 17 people were arrested in Lubbock, Texas, United States when the Lubbock Police Department‘s Special Operations Division conducted a human trafficking operation on March 1, 2023. One of the arrestees, who is female, was identified as a possible victim of human trafficking.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Lubbock Fire Rescue also participated in the operation named Operation March Madness. The operation resulted in six arrests for misdemeanor prostitution and 10 felony arrests for solicitation of prostitution.


The name of the arrestee identified as a possible victim was not released. Here are the 16 other arrestees:

Lubbock was settled in 1889 and incorporated on March 16, 1909. It is home to Texas Tech University, Lubbock Christian University, South Plains College, Sunset International Bible Institute and Wayland Baptist University.

Tray Payne is the incumbent mayor of Lubbock. Both Atlanta Hawks player Trae Young, 24, and Rio Grande Valley Vipers player Jarrett Culver, 24, were born in the city.
