Isaiah Collazo of Staten Island, New York City, New York, United States has died. He was 18.

Collazo was born in Brooklyn, New York City. He is Carlos Collazo‘s only child.

Isaiah enjoyed boxing as a hobby when he lived with his mother in Florida, USA. In 2021, he moved to Staten Island where he lived with his father.

On the evening of April 6, 2023, Isaiah and Mark Smith, 25, of Brooklyn got into a physical fight on a northbound D train as it entered the Fourth Avenue and Pacific Street station in Brooklyn. The two did not know each other.

At around 11:30 p.m., Isaiah was stabbed in the stomach allegedly by Smith. Along with his friends, the alleged stabber fled the station.

“My son wasn’t a street kid,” Carlos told the New York Daily News. “He was home more than anything and he was just out that day. He was actually supposed to be home by then and he wasn’t answering his phone. I was upset that he wasn’t home yet and then this happened.”

Isaiah was left bleeding. Emergency responders later brought him to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn where he died of his injures.

On April 12, 2023, New York City Police Department officers arrested Smith. He was charged with manslaughter, assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
