Matthew Garrett, 54, of San Francisco, California, United States is a sixth-grade teacher at Taylor Middle School is Millbrae, San Mateo County, California. He teaches social studies and English language arts (ELA).

Between 2007 and 2022, Garrett allegedly inappropriately touching several juveniles over their clothing. Between November 2021 and March 2022, he allegedly molested one student.

On February 24, 2023, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office received a report that the student had been sexually assaulted by Garrett. After the allegations surfaced, he was placed on administrative leave. 

On April 20, 2023, detectives arrested Garrett at his residence in San Francisco. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, San Mateo County.

Garrett was charged with 10 counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14. His bail was set at $5 million.

Detectives believe there are more victims and witnesses. The investigation is still ongoing.
