Footballer Mohanad Jeahze, 26, Linköping, Sweden formally made his debut for Iraq in a 1–1 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification tie with Syria on November 11, 2021. On December 7, 2022, he signed a three-year contract with Major League Soccer club D.C. United during the offseason after seven seasons in Sweden.
Days after joining D.C. United, Jeahze allegedly assaulted someone. On April 22, 2023, he allegedly assaulted another person.
Shortly after the second assault, Jeahze was arrested in Stockholm, Sweden on two counts of assault. He has yet to be formally charged.
Jeahze was on personal leave while recovering from a quadriceps injury when he was arrested. He will remain in custody until May 8, 2023.
D.C. United has been made aware that Jeahze had been arrested. The team said it will await additional details before providing further comment on the matter.
