Both Jecobie Alexandeiada Nevels, 21, and Jaelle Marie Nevels, 19, are from Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States. On May 3, 2023, they were passengers at Miami International Airport in Miami, Florida, USA.
Jecobie and Jaelle were accused of being disrupted on a flight. Miami-Dade Police Department officers received a call of disruptive passengers on a flight and responded to Gate E-22 at MIA.
At the time, a JetBlue flight at Gate E-22 was scheduled to fly into John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City. However, it was delayed for almost two hours.
While conducting an investigation, the officers tried to keep Jecobie and Jaelle from leaving the area. Jaelle allegedly pushed a male officer while knocking his hand down and as Jecobie pushed past the officer, she tried to exit through a locked door while damaging the lock.
Another officer approached Jecobie and Jaelle as they tried to go upstairs. The two women allegedly screamed, turned around and walked down the stairs.
Jecobie allegedly grabbed and pushed past an officer who was trying to stop her from leaving the scene. While she was trying to leave, she allegedly turned around and hit one of the arms of an officer who was following her.
Disobeying the officers, Jecobie allegedly refused to put her hands behind her back and continued to aggressively resist arrest by flailing her arms and kicking officers. One officer, who was kicked in the groin, was transported to University of Miami Hospital in Miami for treatment.
Ultimately, the officers arrested Jecobie and Jaelle and transported them to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami for processing. Both women refused to give statement.
Jecobie was charged with battery on a police officer, resisting an officer with violence and criminal mischief while Jaelle was charged with resisting an officer with violence. The two women were also issued trespass warnings.
