Lake Elsinore, California teacher Ryan Campbell arrested for annoying or molesting a child


Ryan Campbell, 40, is an employee of Ortega High School in Lake Elsinore, Riverside County, California, United States. While working there as a teacher, he allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to two students.

Just before 10:00 a.m. on April 28, 2023, a Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station school resource officer was sent to Ortega High School after a female student, 16, accused Campbell of harassing her. The student’s claims of harassment was echoed by another student, 17.


As revealed by an investigation, Campbell had made inappropriate remarks and sent text messages to the two students students during and after school hours. The text messages had no connection to school projects or material and the context was inappropriate in nature.

On May 5, 2023, Campbell was arrested in Lake Elsinore. He is facing charges of annoying or molesting a child.

Campbell was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, Riverside County. It has yet to be confirmed whether or not he is still an Ortega High School employee.


Lake Elsinore was incorporated as a city on April 9, 1888. Among the city’s top employers is the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, which serves a student population of around 21,500.

While professional golfer Aaron Wise, 26, was born in Cape Town, South Africa, he was raised in Lake Elsinore. Born in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, USA, Timothy J. Sheridan, 57, is the incumbent mayor of Lake Elsinore.
