Cho Kyu Song and his wife Kang Shin Young, also known as Cindy Cho, have died. He was 37 and she was 35.
Kyu Song and Cindy, who are of Korean descent, are citizens of the United States. They have two sons together and they lived in a two-story house in Dallas, Texas, USA.
Cindy gave birth to William Cho in 2017 and James Cho in 2020. The two boys attended Prestonwood Christian Academy, a private Christian school in Plano, Texas that serves students in grades preschool (PreK-3) through 12.
On May 2, 2023, William celebrated his sixth birthday and received clothes as a gift. The clothes, which were from the Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Collin County, Texas, did not fit William.
On May 6, 2023, Kyu Song, Cindy, William and James visited the Allen Premium Outlets to exchange the clothes. They were near the H&M store at the mall when U.S. Army veteran Mauricio Garcia, 33, of Dallas went there and opened fire.
Kyu Song, Cindy, James, Elio Cumana-Rivas, 32, Thatikonda Aishwarya Reddy, 27, Christian LaCour, 20, Daniela Mendoza, 11, and Sofia Mendoza, 8. William, Shreyash Reddy, Ilya Mendoza and four others were injured and hospitalized.
Ilda is Daniel and Sofia’s mother. Daniela and Sofia were both elementary school students in the Wylie Independent School District, which is based in Wylie, Texas.
William has been released from the intensive care unit. More than $870,000 has been raised for him via a GoFundMe page as of May 8, 2023.
