Leo Jones, 34, of Frayser, Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, United States drove a silver sport utility vehicle, a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, on May 6, 2023. Three children aged 11, 8 and 3 were also in the car.
While driving the car with the three children in it, Jones allegedly shot at another car on Interstate 240 near South Parkway in Memphis. In the other car was a couple.
The bullet went through the rear window and out the front windshield. It cut a female passenger in the car on her head.
The driver of the other car took a photo of Jones’ car. Memphis Police Department officers responded to the shooting and traced the SUV’s license plate number to Jones’ car.
When officers arrived at Jones’ residence in Frayser, they saw the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder in the driveway. Wearing a holster containing a 9 mm handgun, he was there getting out of the driver’s seat.
Jones was arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail in Memphis. He admitted to shooting at the victims during the road rage incident.
Bond for Jones was set at $75,000. He was charged with one count of using a firearm in a dangerous felony, two counts of attempted second-degree murder and three counts of child endangerment.
