David Patrick Neal, 52, of Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee, United States worked as a manager at Hilton Hotel in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. On March 30, 2023, he and another employee entered the room of Peter Brennan, a guest from Round Rock, Williamson County, Texas, USA, to fix an issue with the television.

Brennan stayed there overnight for a work conference. At around 5:00 a.m. on March 31, 2023, he woke up and found his toes in Neal’s mouth.

That morning, Neal allegedly used a key card he had cloned to let himself in. Wearing a uniform and a name tag, he could not give an explanation why he was inside the room, according to Brennan.

Later, Neal claimed that he could smell smoke so he entered Brennan’s room but no other employees or guests had reported smelling smoke at the time. Brennan filed suit against Hilton Resorts Corporation, which owns and operates the hotel, and Neal was arrested at his residence in Lebanon.

On May 5, 2023, Neal was charged with aggravated burglary and assault. His bond was set at $27,000.

It was not the first time Neal was arrested. On November 3, 1996, he murdered his roommate Wally F. Haynes.

Neal was indicted for second-degree murder. He claimed he killed Haynes in self-defense after a night out at a bar later turned into a physical fight inside a residence.

On November 12, 1997, a jury found Neal guilty of voluntary manslaughter. He served more than five years in prison.
