Tyler Schindley, 46, became an Under Armour store manager in 2013. He lives in an upscale home in Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia, United States with his wife Krista Schindley, 47, and their six children, who were all homeschooled.
One of the children is a boy, 10, who weighs only 36 pounds. For three years, Tyler and Krista allegedly kept the boy locked inside his bedroom and left him alone in their residence for extended periods of time.
On multiple occasions, the boy was allegedly deprived of access to food, clothing, lights and adult interaction and assistance. Tyler and Krista allegedly withheld human interaction, views of the outside, hot water and toilet paper.
As a result of starvation, the boy suffered from dental injury and disfiguration. At one point, Tyler and Krista allegedly beat the boy, who was left with injuries.
On May 12, 2023, a neighbor found the boy wandering the streets in the neighborhood in Griffin. The boy had discolored skin and visible injuries.
Hungry, the boy wanted to go to Kroger’s to get food and begged not to be returned home. He was transported to a hospital where he is being treated for malnutrition and a low heart rate.
On May 16, 2023, Tyler and Krista were arrested and charged with simple battery, false imprisonment, attempted homicide and cruelty to children. Their oldest son was left in their house in Griffin while their four other children were placed in the custody of Georgia’s Department of Family and Children’s Services.
