Ahmed Amir vs Sam Patterson at ‘Brave 23: Pride and Honor’ in Jordan ends in split draw

Neither Ahmed “The Butcher” Amir, 28, of Egypt nor Sam Patterson, 22, of England won in their recent bout in Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation. The two were pitted against each other at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor.”

Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches, which included three title bouts, “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” took place at the Martyr Rashid Al-Ziyoud Hall Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan on April 19, 2019. It was the second Brave CF event to take place in the country.

The second bout of the evening was between Amir and Patterson. They competed in the lightweight division.

In the first round, Amir dominated on the ground and almost submitted Patterson via rear-naked choke. They entertained the crowd with ground and clinch fighting in the second round.

After three five-minute rounds, the lightweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, the official result was a split draw.

The first judge scored it 28-28. The second judge scored it 29-28 in favor of Amir and the third judge scored it 29-27 in favor of Patterson.

Now, Amir has 9 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw. Patterson now has 4 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw.

While Amir was one of the two fighters who represented Egypt at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor,” Patterson solely represented England. Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, the United States and Wales were also represented.

“Brave 23: Pride and Honor” marked Amir’s sixth Brave CF bout. He previously competed in Desert Force MMA.

Amir made his successful professional MMA debut in 2011. He joined Brave CF in 2016.

Patterson made his successful professional MMA debut in 2017. In the same year, he joined Brave CF.

The bout against Amir at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” marked Patterson’s second Brave CF bout. The fighter from England previously competed in Super Fight League, Rise of Champions MMA and Killacam Promotions, among others.
