Undefeated MMA fighter Reinier de Ridder earns 2nd ONE Championship win, beats Gilberto Galvao at ‘ONE: Legendary Quest’ in China

Reinier “The Dutch Knight” de Ridder, 28, of Breda, North Brabant, Netherlands was one of the winners at “ONE: Legendary Quest.” It was the undefeated Dutch mixed martial artist’s second victory in ONE Championship.

Featuring three Muay Thai matches, two kickboxing contests and nine MMA bouts, “ONE: Legendary Quest” took place at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China on June 15, 2019. In the eighth bout of the evening, de Ridder fought Gilberto “Giba” Galvão, 37, of Balneario Camboriu, Santa Catarina, Brazil in an MMA match in the middleweight division with Olivier Coste as the referee.

Coste put a stop to the middleweight contest after 57 seconds in the second round when de Ridder knocked out Galvão. The Dutch fighter was able to maintain his 100 percent finishing rate.

Winning at “ONE: Legendary Quest” improved the professional MMA record of de Ridder to 11 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Galvão now has 30 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw.

At “ONE: Legendary Quest,” de Ridder solely represented the Netherlands  while Galvão was one of the representatives of Brazil. Australia, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, the Philippines, Scotland, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom were also represented.

On June 12, 2019, de Ridder and Galvão had their official face-off during the press conference at Yunspace in Shanghai. The event was graced by ONE Championship Greater China chairman Hua Fung Teh and reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 31, of China.

Born in the Netherlands on September 7, 1990, de Ridder started his judo training when he was 5 years old. As an MMA fighter, he has been competing professionally since 2013 and he is currently training out of Combat Brothers in Breda.

When de Ridder made his ONE Championship debut on January 25, 2019 in the Philippines, he submitted “King Kong Warrior” Fan Rong, 25, of Harbin, China. “ONE: Legendary Quest” marked his second bout in the promotion.
