Distributed by Lotte Entertainment, “Saja” (The Divine Fury) is a Korean action-horror movie that premiered in South Korea on July 31, 2019. It was written and directed by “Jason” Kim Joo Hwan and it stars Park Seo Joon, Ahn Sung Ki and Woo Do Hwan.

Park plays Yong Hoo, a mixed martial artist who is an orphan and an atheist. His mother died in childbirth and when he was young, his father, who was a policeman, was attacked by a man possessed by evil spirits.

In the hospital, the young Yong Hoo asked a Catholic priest to pray for his father and save him. The prayer failed as his father eventually died and since then, he resented the Catholic church.

As an adult, Yong Hoo became a successful MMA fighter. After one MMA bout, he started bleeding from his palm and doctors could not explain what was happening so he was referred to Father Ahn (Ahn), a priest who is also a full-time exorcist.

Ahn explained that Yong Hoo was experiencing stigmata. The priest also revealed that the MMA fighter has the power to exorcise demons by lighting their faces on fire.

Subsequently, Ahn asked Yong Hoo to help him with his busy schedule of exorcisms. Initially, Yong Hoo was reluctant but he did help the priest using his MMA skills and the power he obtained from stigmata.

Together, Ahn and Yong Hoo faced the villain in the movie named Ji Sin (Woo). Also called the Dark Bishop, the villain is a nightclub operator who is responsible for the rash of local possessions.

Choi Woo Shik and Kim Si Eun have special appearances in “The Divine Fury” as Father Choi and a nun named Theresa, respectively. Also in the cast are Seung Joon Lee as Police Seargeant Park, Jasper Cho as Kevin, Mark Heron as a ringside doctor and Rita Kurtz as a VIP arena attendant.

The action-horror film marked the second time Seo Joon starred in a movie directed by Jason. In 2017, the actor starred in the action-comedy film “Midnight Runners,” which the latter wrote and directed.

“The Divine Fury” will be released in Indonesia and in the Philippines on August 14, 2019, in Malaysia and in Singapore on August 15, 2019 and in Canada, in Taiwan and the United States on August 16, 2019. Here is a trailer of the Korean movie from Lotte Entertainment with English subtitles:
