Hyderabad, India’s Dr. Tejaswini Manogna to compete at Miss Earth 2019 in Naga City, Philippines

Dr. Tejaswini Manogna, 23, will represent India in Miss Earth 2019. She is the 19th woman to represent the country in the international beauty pageant.

On August 31, 2019, Manogna was crowned Miss Earth India during the Miss Divine Beauty 2019 coronation night at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. Reigning Miss Earth 2018 Nguyen Phuong Khanh and reigning Miss Intercontinetal 2018 Karen Gallman attended the event.

In the same event, Surina Jaidka was crowned Miss Intercontinental India 2019. The respective first and second runners-up were Rashmi Madhuri and Nikeet Kaur Dhillon.

It was not the first time Manogna competed in a national beauty pageant. She represented Hyderabad in Miss Diva 2017, which crowned India’s representatives to Miss Universe 2017 and Miss Supranational 2018, where she finished in the Top 6.

Hailing from Hyderabad, Telengana, India, Manogna is a prodigy who she has given honor to India several times in other fields outside beauty pageant. She is a doctor, a Bharatanatyam dancer, a Carnatic vocalist, a sports person, a motivational speaker, a philanthropist a yoga practitioner and a medal-winning National Cadet Corps cadet.

Manogna attended Rosary Convent High School and Osmania Medical College, which are both in Hyderabad. She has undergone the Army National Cadet Corps training, according to Telangana Today.

When Manogna was 16 years old, she was adjudged as India’s Best NCC Cadet and Best Shooter among 13 lakh cadets of Army, Air Force and Navy. She is a student of Bharatanatyam guru Manjula Ramaswamy.

In Hyderabad, Manogna served as a yoga trainer for the police . She was involved with the activities of a non-government organization concerned to child education, health and child labor eradication.

The newly crowned Miss Earth 2019 has an accreditation as graded professional artiste in Doordarshan. She won the Young Achiever award at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation meet in Sri Lanka.

On October 26, 2019, Nguyen will crown her successor at the Miss Earth 2019 coronation night in Naga City, Philippines. Manogna and around 90 candidates from around the world will compete for the title.

If Manogna wins, she will be the second Miss Earth from India. The first one was Nicole Faria, who earned the title in 2010.
