A mixed martial arts veteran, Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky, 36, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, United States has fought around the world. He landed for the first time in Slovenia for his BRAVE Combat Federation debut.
Makovsky’s first BRAVE CF outing will be at “BRAVE CF 34,” which will take place simultaneously with “WFC 24: Caged” at the Hala Tivoli in Ljubljana, Slovenia on January 19, 2020. It is the first show of the Bahrain-based MMA promotion’s collaboration with leading local promotion WFC.
One of the matches on the main card is a flyweight bout between Makovsky and Veliimurad Alkhasov, 28, of Grozny, Russia. While the Russian fighter is a Sambo world champion who has yet to taste a defeated in MMA, the American contender is confident that he can get off to a winning start.
According to Makovsky, he has studied Alkhasov’s game and has come up with a plan to deal with the weapons the Sambo world champion brings with him to the cage. However, the Bethlehem native claims he will only know if his plan is effective on fight night.
“Velimurad is very good but I think I’m better at everything skill-wise,” Makovsky said. “But I’m not underestimating him. I don’t know.”
“It’s always interesting when you watch a guy fight and you think how you can match-up with him but you really don’t know until you get in there,” Makovsky continued. “I studied and I think I came up with a strategy that will accentuate my skills and hopefully get the job done so I’m ready for everything.”
“BRAVE CF 34” and “WFC 24: Caged” will be headlined by Luka Podkrajsek, 30, of Slovenia and Viktor Vasic, 35, of Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. They will compete for the inaugural WFC Heavyweight Championship.
