Alma Andrea Meza Carmona, 26, of Chihuahua City, Mexico was one of the four crowned queens at the 2020 Mexicana Universal. She won the top crown making her the official candidate of Mexico in Miss Universe 2020.
Hosted by Monica Noguera and Ana Alicia Alba, the 2020 Mexicana Universal coronation night took place at the Hotel Misión Grand Juriquilla, Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico on November 29, 2020. Including Meza, 31 candidates competed for the four titles at stake.
Diego Di Marco, Ivonne Reyes, Paola Hinojos and Yamelin Ramirez served as judges. Runner-up to Meza is Débora Hallal Ayala, 24, Sinaloa while Brenda Andrea Smith Lezama, 26, of Ciudad de Mexico was second runner-up and Camila Canto Vera, 22, of Puebla was third runner-up.
The other three crowned queens were Reina Hispanoamericana Mexico 2020 Andrea Paola Martínez Bazarte, 28, Nuevo Leon, Nuestra Latinoamericana 2020 Alma Ángeles Castro Chávez, 22, Oaxaca and Miss Charm Mexico 2020 Ana Karen Bustos Gutiérrez, 23, San Luis Potosi. Both Castro and Bustos won inaugural titles.
The date and venue of Miss Universe 2020 have yet to be announced. It will not be the first time Meza is representing Mexico in an international beauty pageant.
The Chihuahua City native competed at Miss World Mexico 2016 where two queens were crowned. She was crowned Miss World Mexico 2017 while Ana Girault was crowned Miss World Mexico 2016.
Girault was unplaced at Miss World 2016 in Washington, D.C., United States. Andrea was runner-up to Manushi Chhillar of India at Miss World 2017 in Sanya, China.
Born in Chihuahua City on August 13, 1994 to Santiago Meza and Alma Meza, Andrea is the eldest of three daughters. Her younger sisters are named Karen Meza and Mariana Meza.
Andrea is a model and she stands 180cm. In 2017, she graduated from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua with a bachelor’s degree in software engineering.
The newly crowned Miss Universe Mexico 2020 speaks Spanish and English. Aside from modeling, she has also worked as a software engineer.
