Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito, 22, of Blue Point, New York, United States is still missing. The Moab City Police Department has released body camera footage of officers’ encounter with her and her fiancé Brian Laundrie, 23, of North Port, Florida, USA.
On August 12, 2021, Petito took to Instagram to share photos taken at Arches National Park in Utah, USA. That day, she and Laundrie were near Moonflower Community Cooperative in Moab, Utah and a witness saw them arguing over a phone and called 911 over possible domestic violence.
Moab Police Department officers located the couple’s white 2012 Ford Transit van and pulled it over. The officers immediately separated the two before each of them described the altercation they had earlier that day.
For more than 1 hour, the officers talked to Laundrie and Petito. He told the officers that he and his fiancée started to fight when he climbed into their van with dirty feet.
Petito told the officers she had obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Through much of the video, she was crying as she described the details of her fight with Laundrie earlier that day.
Laundrie told the officers he also has OCD and was bothered by the sand on his feet and shoes. The officers took photos of the scratches on his face, neck and arms.
According to Petito, she slapped Laundrie when she thought he was going to leave her in Moab. The couple also told Moab cops that he did not hit her.
Neither Laundrie nor Petito was arrested. They told the officers that they were in love and they did not want charges pressed.
Both Laundrie and Petito agreed to separate for the night. A domestic assault outreach group put him up in a hotel while she stayed in their van.

When Laundrie and Petito started dating in 2019, she moved with him in his home in North Port. In July 2020, they got engaged.
On June 17, 2021, Laundrie and Petito went to Blue Point to attend her brother’s high school graduation. On July 2, 2021, they left her hometown and started their cross-country camping trip across the U.S.
Petito was in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, USA when she spoke to her mother Nichole Schmidt via FaceTime on August 25, 2021. That was Petito’s last known location.
On September 1, 2021, Laundrie drove their white 2012 Ford Transit van back to North Port. On September 10, 2021, the van was recovered at his family’s home.
On September 11, 2021, Schmidt reported Petito missing to the Suffolk County Police Department. On September 15, 2021, the North Port Police Department named him a person of interest in the investigation and said he is not cooperating with authorities.
