Divimara Lamar Nava, 52, and her common-law partner Francisco Oropeza, 38, lived together in Cleveland, Liberty County, Texas, United States. Originally from Mexico, he was deported from the U.S. twice in 2009 and once in 2012.
In June 2022, Nava called authorities and requested a restraining order against Oropeza. She later withdrew the complaint against him.
At around 11:30 p.m. on April 28, 2023, Oropeza allegedly entered the house of their Honduran neighbors in Cleveland and fatally shot Obdulia Molina Rivera, 31, Sonia Argentina Guzman Taibot, 24, Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 22, and Josué Jonatan Cáceres, 18. Oropeza also allegedly shot Daniel Enrique Laso Guzman, 9, who was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
After the shooting, Oropeza allegedly fled the scene. Nava is accused of helping him evade capture by hiding him at his sister’s home in Cut and Shoot, Montgomery County, Texas.
At around 6:00 p.m. on May 2, 2023, Oropeza was arrested at his sister’s home in Cut and Shoot. He briefly was jailed in Montgomery County before he was transferred to a detention facility in Coldsprings, San Jacinto County, Texas.
That evening, Nava was also arrested and charged with hindering apprehension and prosecution of a known felon in connection with the search for him. She is being held on a $250,000 bond.
