Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal is one of the most talked about mixed martial artist in the world today. He was born in Miami, Florida, United States.

As a professional MMA fighter, Masvidal competed in the U.S., Costa Rica, Russia, Japan, South Korea and England from 2003 to 2019. Get to know more about the Cuban-Peruvian MMA fighter with these 13 fun facts:

  1. His father Jorge Masvidal Sr. is Cuban.
  2. His mother, who he fondly calls Mama Dukes, is Peruvian.
  3. He stands 5’10”.
  4. He wrestled at St. Brendan High School in Miami.
  5. He was 19 years old when he made his professional MMA debut in Absolute Fighting Championships (AFC) in 2003.
  6. He is a former AFC Welterweight Champion.
  7. In submission grappling, he won the FGA Southeast Challenge II Lightweight Championship in 2003.
  8. In 2009, he fought three bouts in Bellator MMA.
