Denice “The Menace Fairtex” Zamboanga, 23, of the Philippines was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Breed” in Bangkok, Thailand. The Filipino mixed martial artist earned her third victory in the Singapore-based martial arts promotion ONE Championship.

Featuring three MMA and four Muay Thai fights, “ONE: A New Breed” took place in Bangkok on August 28, 2020. In the fifth bout of the evening, Zamboanga fought Watsapinya “Dream Girl” Kaewkhong, 25, of Thailand in an MMA bout in the women’s atomweight division.

“My preparations for this fight have gone very well,” Zamboanga said before “ONE: A New Breed” fight night. “I’m on weight, in fact, even a little under. I’m very excited for my next fight.”

According to Zamboanga, she took the fight because she wanted to stay active while national borders are still closed. She said, “I grabbed the opportunity to fight in Thailand since I’m already here.”

“I’m not underestimating my opponent at all,” Zamboanga said of Kaewkhong. “At this level, every opponent is top-notch. Once everything goes back to normal, I know I will meet Angela Lee at some point.”

“We’ve trained very hard,” Zamboanga continued. “Our conditioning is great. We have a great game plan heading into this matchup.”

During the “ONE: A New Breed” fight night, Zamboanga authored an exquisite first round submission of Kaewkhong. After dominating the standup exchanges early, the undefeated Filipino MMA fighter took matters to the ground with a successful takedown.
