Pierce “Big Bang” O’Leary, 18, of Dublin, Ireland and Jacob Quinn, 23, of Huddersfield, Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom will battle it out at “MTK Fight Night” at Production Park Studios in South Kirkby, Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The show will be aired live on August 12, 2020 in the United States on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank and worldwide on IFL TV.
Both O’Leary and Quinn are undefeated. The former said, “I am really excited.”
“There is not long left so my mind is at ease knowing I’ve got a fight,” the Dublin native continued. “MTK Global have done a tremendous job and went far and beyond searching for an opponent with a winning record and a great style and they delivered. I had a look at Quinn and he looks good.”
“He’s a southpaw and likes to come forward,” O’Leary said of Quinn. “So we will have an entertaining fight for the fans tuning in. It’s going to be a fantastic night.”
O’Leary made his professional boxing debut in 2019. He holds a professional boxing record of 4 wins and 0 loss.
Quinn also has 4 wins and 0 loss. He has been competing professionally since 2018.
“I’m very happy to be fighting on the show,” Quinn said. “Obviously, it was short notice so it came unexpected but I’ve been ready for a while as I’ve been training hard over the last few months. I’ll fight anyone right now.”
“I just want the opportunity to see if I can make something out of myself in the sport,” Quinn continued. “Facing another guy coming for the win will definitely bring the best out of me. I literally have nothing to lose and everything to gain so I’ll be giving it everything I have.”
While O’Leary has not had much time to prepare, he is still confident of an extremely dominant performance against Quinn. The Irish boxer said, “I have had nine hard weeks of top training plus the work I’ve done during the lockdown.”
“I’ve been sparring all different types of fighting styles so I am more than ready for this and I am fully switched on,” O’Leary continued. “Once I get the win with a very impressive performance I hope it leads me onto big cards to show everyone what I have and to keep building my stock. It’s going to be a six round fight and I believe it will suit me better than four rounds.
“It might feel a bit similar to a spar but you’ve got to switch on at all times,” O’Leary added. “I’m excited about it because even though my fans are not there, I know they’re going to be tuned in at home on ESPN+ or IFL TV.”
The upcoming “MTK Fight Night” show at Production Park Studios will be headlined by Jono Carroll vs Maxi Hughes. Also on the fight card are Sean McComb vs Siar Ozgul, Craig MacIntyre vs Ishmael Ellis and Sahir Iqbal vs Maredudd Thomas for the World Boxing Council Youth title.
It kicks off a brilliant run of “MTK Fight Night” events throughout the summer. Lewis Crocker, Lee McGregor, Gary Cully, Akeem Ennis Brown and Dan Azeez are expected to be in action over the coming months.
